Diary of a Worm, a Spider and a Fly

November 10 to 18, 2018

Best enjoyed by boys and girls ages 3 and up.

This coolest-ever rock-and-roll romp captures the droll humor and whimsy of the famous picture book series. Insects rule in the diaries of unlikely best friends Worm, Spider and Fly. Spider is eager to shed his exoskeleton and grow up. Fly can walk on walls and yearns to be a bona fide superhero. But poor Worm doesn't have wings or legs so he can barely keep up with the others. Without legs, what is his life's purpose? His friends come up with some cool scientific answers, proving the world needs all different kinds of heroes. Promoting tolerance of others, eco-consciousness and even earth science, this witty new production is a joyful and hip musical exploration of the world outside.

Based on the books Diary of a Worm, Diary of a Spider and Diary of a Fly by Doreen Cronin, illustrated by Harry Bliss

Book, music and lyrics by Joan Cushing

Corduroy

January 12 to 20, 2019

Best enjoyed by boys and girls ages 5 and up.

Join Corduroy on his delightfully destructive chase through every section of the department store in search of his missing button. Will the night watchman find him and return him to his shelf before he can find his important button? Will Lisa ever convince her mother to let her give the bear a home? The tender, enduring story about true friendship stirs up the stage with a bustling rumpus of high-energy action and loads of physical comedy!

Based on the books Corduroy and A Pocket for Corduroy by Don Freeman. Adapted for the stage by Barry Kornhauser.

The Pied Piper

April 1 to 6, 2019

Back by popular demand for the 15th time: the Missoula Children’s Theatre Experience!

Once again, TYKEs welcomes an incredible concept in children’s theatre—a full-scale musical with sets, costumes, make-up and props, starring 60 local kids—all created within a week.

Kids can enjoy the show in two ways: by watching it—or starring in it! Budding thespians, ages five and up, rehearse Monday through Friday and perform the show that Saturday. Missoula Children’s Theatre has been touring all over the world for more than 40 years and comes to town with everything needed to put on a play—except the cast. Children spend the week learning lines, songs and choreography for this full-length musical.
