Anna Ingrassio
Certifications: AFAA-Personal Trainer, AFAA - Group Fitness, Mad Dogg Athletics - Spinning, Ramping™, YMCA - Strength Training & Healthy Back, Stott Pilates
Areas of interest: Teaches: Pilates, Low impact, Lifetime, Ramping™, Healthy Back
Personal: Anna has been actively involved or teaching fitness for the past 20 years and been at the JCC since 2003. Running, swimming and dancing are favorite activities along with spending time with her husband and sons.
Thoughts on Fitness: "The 3 major components of fitness are rest, diet and exercise. How much rest we get will be our measurement of performance for the day. Diet by definition:food and drink regularly consumed; habitual nourishment. Food and drink, being our fuel, will carry us through the day. Exercise if done repetitively will strengthen and develop our bodies and minds. Proper exercise will enable us to function in our daily activities with ease. Applying these 3 components in our everyday lives is the foundation for a healthy body."

Carrie Emerson Block
Education: B.S., N.Y.U. Dance Education, specialization in Dance/Movement Therapy
Certifications: Certified Stott Pilates Trainer™, Completed Teacher Training all levels Pilates Reformer and Mat via Stott Pilates; Completed Level 1 Somatics Therapy, Completed 200 hour Anusara YOGA teacher training, Registered Yoga Teacher-National Yoga Alliance, Certified Restorative Yoga Teacher. Also certified in past - The Physical-Mind Institute - Pilates Mat, RESIST-A-BALL.
Teaches: Pilates and Yoga
Personal: Carrie has taught movement for thirty years and is greatly influenced by methods of visualization, imagery and use of the breath to facilitate deeper somatic connections through movement. Her greatest teaching comes from her students, her children, thirty five years of training with many teachers in dance, movement science, somatics, yoga and pilates, and life itself.
Thoughts on Fitness: "My intention as a teacher is that you find a connection to your breath, a greater range of motion in your body, flexibility in the mind and spirit, overall better health and the cultivation of an inner sense of GRACE and well being. Your intention can be as simple as coming to class with an open heartedness to try something new or experience what you already know in a new way."

Sat Dharm Singh Kalsa
Certification: Kundalini Yoga Research Institute Level 1 certification
Teaches: Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, and Yogic Healing
Personal: I have been teaching yoga for more than 30 years. I founded two yoga ashrams and now teach yoga full time. I guess you could say that yoga is my life.
Thoughts on Yoga: Kundalini Yoga is a transformational process of discovering who you are, what your purpose is and applying that awareness to living life more fully. It involves all of the traditional yoga postures. I also incorporate relaxation, breath work, meditation, and mantra (sound current) in every class. Our teacher, Yogi Bhajan, says, "If it is not spiritual it is not yoga."

Bev Hillabrandt
Certifications: AFAA - Group Exercise, AFAA Personal Trainer, AEA - Aquatics, Mad Dogg - Spinning, PowerFlex, Pilates - Stott Pilates - Toronto, Ramping™, SilverSneakers®, Pilates for Golf™ - Golf Conditioning Specialist

Personal: Bev has been at the JCC since 1983. When not teaching or personal training, Bev loves to spend time at home outdoors on her deck or walking, golfing or biking.
Thoughts on Fitness: I love to share my enthusiasm about fitness. I especially enjoy when a class member shares a success story - an improved golf or tennis game, or how regular exercise has helped improve their posture, stamina and strength. Everyone should strengthen core muscles to better enjoy their sport or movement in life. Pilates works magic!

Jim Nonnemacher

Areas of interest: Running, cycling, weight training, and the science behind improved performance in these areas.
Philosophy of Fitness: My philosophy of fitness can be summed up in one word: Balance. Many of the musculoskeletal problems people experience are due to muscle/muscle group imbalances that cause alignment problems. A well designed strength program ensures that opposing muscles/muscle groups are properly developed.
The balance between strength and aerobic fitness is also important. While a good strength program addresses the needs of the musculo-skeletal system an aerobic program ensures that the cardiovascular system is in good health. And if weight management is a goal of the client, a balance between the strength and aerobic fitness programs is needed to attain and maintain a target weight/body composition.

Wendy Beller-Madway
Training: Completed 200 hour Anusara Yoga and Rajanaka Tantra Teacher Training, Teaching Adaptive Yoga Teacher Training, Registered Yoga Teacher, Anusara inspired Yoga Teacher™
Teaches: Anusara Inspired Yoga, Chair/Adaptive Yoga
Personal: For me, practicing Yoga has evolved from a desire to grow stronger, more flexible, and build body awareness into a celebration of creativity and freedom. Each Yoga session is a unique experience whether I am in my home practice, a student, or a teacher. Every moment unfolds in a creative and unique fashion that highlights both differences and similarities of the poses as the movements create a flow. My passion for yoga has brought me into the role of a teacher which gives me great joy as I share this uplifting experience with others.
Thoughts on Fitness: Yoga improves flexibility, balance, strength, mobility, posture and breath. It can be a starting point or enrichment to a current exercise routine.

Carrie Herscovici
Carrie has practiced and taught various styles of yoga for almost twelve years. She has explored the physical aspects of yoga as well as the philosophical and spiritual roots of yoga.
A certified Yoga siromani (Teacher) in the Iyengar tradition, Carrie also has significant experience in the Sivananda & Vinyasa styles. As a yoga practitioner in Los Angeles, she studied with Steve Ross, Matthew Reyes and Bryan Kest. In 2006 she spent four months in India where she studied with guru Dr. Senthil Kumar. Carrie most recently studied Ashtanga yoga at Kripalu under the direction of legendary Manju Jois.
Carrie's gift for providing a safe environment to guide students through patterns of old pain and trauma is remarkable. Her warm, soothing voice and gentle touch provide a safe healing space for students of any level. Her classes are spirited, upbeat and fun providing a challenging program with a sense of purpose. Inspiring music creates a great environment for the yoga experience.
Carrie's teaching style motivates her students to feel cared for as she inspires them to develop strength, flexibility & balance in order to live a healthier, happier and more peaceful life.
