Health Insurance: Information Counseling and Assistance Program
The H.I.I.C.A.P. (Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program) is available at the JCC, co-sponsored by New York State, Monroe County Offices for the Aging, and the Monroe County Medical Society. Trained volunteer counselors offer accurate and objective information, counseling, assistance and advocacy relating to Medicare, private health insurance, and related health coverage plans for Medicare beneficiaries, their representatives, or persons soon to be eligible for Medicare. This service is free and confidential.
We can help with:
filing an insurance claim
understanding your medical bills
choosing the right policy for your specific needs
making an appeal to Medicare
prescription drug coverage (e.g. EPIC)
long-term care insurance for nursing home and home care
H.I.I.C.A.P.'s counselors can provide you that assistance. Call 461-2000, ext. 870 for further information or to arrange a confidential appointment.
