Stretching the Limits
(Parkinson's Exercise Program)
A group exercise class for individuals with varying stages of Parkinson’s disease.
- Improve flexibility of the lower back and hip flexors, posture, balance
- Increase body awareness
- Build strength and flexibility to get up from a chair or the floor. Functional exercises are included.
- Exercise modifications to meet individual needs
- Focus on what you can do in a positive setting
Stretching the Limits I
For progressed participants who have limited ability to walk or get up from the chair. No floor work is performed in this class – all exercises can be performed in the chair.
January 9-February 29
Monday and Wednesday, 2:00-3:00pm
Stretching the Limits I (Advanced)
For progressed participants who have limited ability to walk or get up from the chair. Some functional exercises included– all exercises however can be performed in the chair.
January 10-March 2
Tuesday and Friday, 9:30-10:30am
Stretching the Limits II (Intermediate)
For those who are mobile and can move around with limited assistance. Classes will include functional exercises such as getting up and down from the chair at the hand rail and gait training.
January 10-March 1
Tuesday and Thursday, 3:00-4:00pm
Stretching the Limits II (Advanced)
For those who are mobile and can move around without assistance. Classes will include functional exercises such as getting up and down from the floor and gait training. This class incorporates quicker movements and faster paced exercises similar to those in Stretching the Limits II (Intermediate)
January 9-February 29
Monday and Wednesday, 11:50-12:50pm
8 weeks and/or 16 classes; Fee: $100; subsidies available.
Participants are welcome to join the program at anytime, but must first come in for an evaluation to be placed in the correct class. Contact Becky Devlin 461-2000 ext. 271 for more information and to schedule an evaluation.
