Imagining Madoff
By Deborah Margolin![]()
March 10 – 25, 2012
Ripped from the headlines!
Did Bernie Madoff really imagine he could get away with orchestrating the biggest ponzi-scheme in history?
How much did his family and employees know about the deceit? How were some of the best and brightest minds in the world blind to his actions?
This shocking new play by Obie Award-winning dramatist, Deborah Margolin explores imagined conversations with the quietly bold and privately crass Madoff, his executive secretary and a renowned author/Holocaust survivor who becomes one of his most notable victims. Imagining Madoff is a poetic examination of the meaning of morality and the power of blind trust.
“Imagining Madoff” is one play you must see. It is by far the best theatre around, a gripping bravura effort. – Register-Star
“Studded with dreams, parables, Talmudic quotations and dirty jokes that reverberate with meaning, Margolin’s mature and intriguing script is a far cry from the shallow re-creations of cable docudramas drawn from public records and overly concerned with real events.” – Jewish Daily Forward
Presented by special arrangement with the author.
Directed by Brian Coughlin
