Markus Society Centennial Year Challenge : 100 New Members for 100 Years of Service to our Community

Charles W. Markus came to Rochester from Chicago in the early 1900's to work as the Director of Purchases for Eastman Kodak. He became a close friend and business associate of George Eastman. Upon his death in 1950, Markus left a significant bequest to the then "JY" that helped to fund the construction in 1973 of our current JCC facility on Edgewood Ave. In his honor, The Charles W. Markus Society was created in 1982 to continue his legacy of support to the JCC.

Today, with more than 300 members, the Markus Society is a vital part of the JCC of Greater Rochester's annual budget and helps us sustain the programs and services enjoyed by more than one million visitors each year, including programs for families, young children, teens and senior adults.

Show your support and become a member of the Charles Markus Society with an annual tax-deductible gift of $350 or more. As a member of the Markus Society you will receive special invitations to attend JCC programs throughout the year in recognition of your financial support. For more information about participating in the Charles W. Markus Society, please email Tamara Cohen, development director or call 585-461-2000 ext. 210.
